FRANKFURT, June 9 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged down on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index down 59.46 points, or 0.38 percent, to close at 15,581.14 points.
Material manufacturer Covestro lost 3.29 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by Deutsche Bank and European multinational online food-delivery service Delivery Hero, which lost 2.15 percent and 1.51 percent, respectively.
Pharmaceutical company Merck gained 2.83 percent, becoming the top gainer. European health care company Fresenius SE and renal dialysis equipment supplier Fresenius Medical added 0.96 percent and 0.95 percent, respectively.
Automotive manufacturer Volkswagen was the most traded share with a turnover of 226.80 million euros (276.58 million U.S. dollars).
China's Haier, a leading global household appliances manufacturer listed in Frankfurt in 2018, shed 0.85 percent to close at 1.805 euros per share on Wednesday.
